Starting in 1971 with a small public firework display and bonfire at St. Martin’s Junior School, it soon outgrew the school field and moved firstly to a field behind The Linton Centre and then to the Convent site in Dorking Road where it joined forces with the Round Table and we added a small fun fair to the event. In 1984 it again outgrew the site and moved to the current site at Hook Road Arena.
Throughout, we have worked with the Epsom and Ewell Borough Council and our sponsors to achieve a safe, family friendly event which is now recognised as one of the best in South East England.
We have our own team of pyrotechnic experts who design and plan the display with the assistance of Illusion Fireworks. The team started thinking about this year’s event as soon as last year’s display was over!
The Funfair has also kept pace with the growth of the event. Monty Hammond, whose funfair travels internationally, has worked with us and arranges rides from all over the country to attend.
A free Park and Ride service and free coach from Epsom Railway Station was introduced in 2000. This was because of the growth in popularity of the event and the Arena’s lack of suitable parking.
From 2021 tickets have only been available online. Entrance is by ticket only, discounted in advance or full price on the day. Under fives are free!
